A simple way to talk to customers or partners is via trade shows, conferences and business fairs.
How this helps you
Get to actively engage with customers and partners in the market and help optimize your ‘sales funnel’ from leads to appointments and sales to achieve your targets.
What is it?
Events are one of the great ways to meet your target customers, suppliers or other business partners. There is a common interest that makes that all these people are there in the same place at that same time. For many events it is easy to find out what the audience will be. This is very useful as it may save you the challenge from having to find people that meet certain criteria.
Conferences, trade shows and business fairs are events that have their own character. There are differences in the level of interaction you may expect to have with other participants depending on the program.
How does it relate?
Participating in an event is an effective way to meet people and experience how they respond to your story. You can learn a lot, simply from having multiple quick conversations in a row. You could even choose to change your story (pitch) from one conversation to another to see what works best. Also it may be easier to meet potential customers and partners you have been long aiming for at an event rather than trying to get an appointment with them elsewhere 1-on-1. Try to look for events in which you are able to actively engage or even rent a stand to increase chances of talking to people.
Your next Waypoint
Find one or two events that have a link to your company or target audience and sign up for it. Prepare the story about you and your idea and push yourself to talk to a few people about it to see how they respond.
